A Murkowski Miracle
Of course, she used to be a Republican, and as the incumbent she had a lot going for her, but this victory takes a chunk of legitimacy out of the Tea Party. Their candidates may win primaries, but when push comes to shove they are far too radical to ever get elected in the mainstream. This reality, which had been obvious to moderates and liberals, will probably start to dawn on the Tea Partiers soon.
It’s too bad. The more time the Republicans spend sabotaging themselves from the inside the better off the Dems will be. As the Sarah Palin buzz wears off, America will probably continue its rightward shift into the next election.
