Mike Pence Not Running

Mike Pence, the Republican congressman representing Indiana’s 6th district and former Republican Conference Chairman, will not seek the Republican nomination for President. He instead plans to run for Governor of Indiana. The decision was published in an interview with the Indianapolis Star.

Pence had been urged to run by a group of conservative leaders including former Republican majority leader Dick Armey. His absence from the field will leave more room in the race for other social conservatives, such as Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin.
